Key Ruto Ally Says Why Ruto Settled for Gachagua as Deputy Despite His Unpopularity

Speaking during an interview with a local media station on Thursday, the 19th of March, a key ally of President William Ruto, who is also a vocal politician from Mt. Kenya has argued that the former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua was not among the most popular of candidates, when Ruto needed a running mate.

According to reports, the current Deputy President, Professor Kithure Kindiki was the most popular, with majority vote, but the President chose to hand pick Rigathi Gachagua, who was then a Member of Parliament for Mathira.......To Read the WHOLE STORY CLICK HERE 

The vocal Mt. Kenya and former CS has stated that even though the decision by the President was quite unpopular, he believes the Head of State had his genuine reasons.

Hon. Moses Kuria argued during the interview that one of the reasons the President might have hand-picked Gachagua was because of the talks going around that he was only surrounded by youngsters.

Moses Kuria went further to state that the President may have wanted someone older than him inorder to quash the wrong narrative from the people.

The statement by Moses Kuria comes at a time when the political temperatures in the country have continued to heighten ahead of the 2027 General elections.

President Ruto's former Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua has appeared to be one of the most ardent critics of the President, especially after their bitter fallout. The last couple of days have seen the two leaders in serious verbal altercation, forcing even the religious leaders to intervene and ask the two to tone down and lead as examples.
