Kenyans Divided After Millicent Omanga Hints at Nairobi Women Rep Bid Under Gachagua's DCP in 2027

Former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has stirred widespread online debate after hinting at a fresh bid for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat in the 2027 General Election.

Omanga took to her Facebook page with a bold and confident message, “Mwenye Uwanja Kaingia Sasa,” signaling what many interpret as her official entry into the race.

The post was accompanied by a campaign-style poster suggesting she could contest under the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), a party linked to former Deputy President and DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua.

Her post quickly ignited reactions across social media, with Kenyans expressing sharply divided opinions over her political move.

While a section of users rallied behind her comeback, others openly criticized her chances, pointing to her previous unsuccessful attempt in the 2022 elections.

Among the critical voices, some users wrote, “Nahivyo ndivyo imekupita tena” and “Wewe kuzama ni constant,” suggesting skepticism about her ability to clinch the seat. Another added, “Hapo nayo umeanguka,” while others went further, warning, “Hutawezana ngojea uone moshi,” and “umetupa mbao kabisaaaa,” reflecting doubt over her political strategy.

Others appeared to shift support to alternative candidates, with one user stating, “I’m voting for Karen Nyamu!” indicating that the race could attract multiple strong contenders and split voter preferences.

However, Omanga also received backing from a section of her supporters who welcomed her re-entry into the contest. Comments such as “Pamoja hadi mwisho” and “Hapo sawa kiongozi, hii ni sure bet” signaled confidence in her bid and belief in her political resilience.

Some users even offered strategic advice, with one suggesting, “You keep on making the same mistake, join the Linda mwanainchi team for easy sail,” highlighting the ongoing political realignments ahead of 2027.
