A shopkeeper is counting heavy losses after falling victim to a clever conman who tricked him into paying KSh 345,000 for goods that were never delivered.

According to reports, the unsuspecting businessman had been approached by a man posing as a supplier offering a lucrative deal on fast-moving shop items at discounted prices. 

The offer appeared genuine, complete with convincing explanations about bulk sourcing and quick delivery timelines.

Trusting the arrangement, the shopkeeper agreed to the deal and proceeded to transfer KSh 345,000 to the suspect’s account, expecting the goods to be delivered within days. However, shortly after receiving the money, the alleged supplier became unreachable.

Attempts to contact him through phone calls and messages were unsuccessful, raising alarm. It was at this point that the shopkeeper realized he had likely been conned.

In a desperate move, he rushed to his bank hoping to reverse the transaction or freeze the recipient’s account. Unfortunately, he was informed that the money had already been withdrawn, making recovery extremely difficult.
