"Huyu Ashaanza Kujisahau" Kenyans React as Gachagua Claims They Adore Him and Will Elect Him in 2027

The former Deputy President, has been on the spot after his statement bragging how Kenyans love him and how they will elect him to Presidency in 2027.

Speaking despite an impeachment motion against him that bars him from vying for any elective position, the former DP has argued that he is known by Kenyans and that he is sure they will give him a chance.

"I am a candidate for Presidency in 2027, and I have a lot of hope. Kenyans know me, they love me, and they will give me a chance to lead them." Stated the former Deputy President.

Supporters in Central Kenya, however, are rallying behind him. Several accounts reposted the clip with fire emojis and messages like “Kenyans know me, they love me” echoing Gachagua’s own words while praising his combative stance against the government.

Political analysts say the reaction reflects Kenya’s fractured opposition. While Gachagua commands strong loyalty in Mt Kenya, his impeachment baggage and perceived role in the 2022-2024 administration continue to alienate urban youth and coastal voters who drove the 2022 protests.

President Ruto has not directly responded to today’s interview but has repeatedly dismissed opposition figures as “divisive” and lacking a development agenda.

On Tuesday in Kakamega, he warned: “You have no place in this country… Hawa watu nitamalizana na wao asubuhi na mapema” (I will deal with these people early in the morning)
What’s Next for 2027?

Gachagua’s latest declaration comes as opposition meetings intensify and the race for a unified ticket heats up. Whether his confidence in nationwide “love” translates into votes remains to be seen — but one thing is clear: the former DP is refusing to be written off.

As one Kenyan commentator put it on social media: “2027 is still far, but the drama has already started.”
