Sad News For Gov Orengo as MCAs Threaten To Impeach Him, Demand Him To Do The Following Immediately

Siaya MCAs have threatened to begin impeachment proceedings against Governor James Orengo after accusing him of gross misconduct in remarks directed at Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.

The ward representatives said Orengo crossed the line during a political tour in Homa Bay, where he allegedly used insulting language against Wanga and questioned how she rose to leadership.

The MCAs said the comments were not only disrespectful to Wanga as a county boss, but also to her role as the national chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement.

Led by Majority Leader Martin Otieno, the MCAs said they want the party to take action against leaders who insult others and damage the image of ODM. Otieno said the county assembly will not take part in official county events until Orengo apologises to Wanga.

“We are standing with our chair, Gladys Wanga. We will not attend any executive function until the governor comes back and apologises,” Otieno said.

Majority Whip Booker Bonyo also backed the move and said he would lead the collection of signatures to start the impeachment process.

He said the governor’s conduct was not fitting for a leader and that the constitution allows county assembly members to remove a governor if they believe his conduct is unacceptable.

Bonyo said the MCAs were ready to act, even if Orengo had only a short time left in office. He added that they could not allow what he called a rogue governor to continue leading the county.

The dispute has now deepened political tensions in Siaya, with the MCAs insisting that an apology is the only way to calm the situation. If they follow through on their threat, the county could soon face a major poliical battle.
