Distressed Uasin Gishu Mum Seeks to Reunite with Son Fighting in Russia after 6 Months, Narrates Last Conversation

A family in Kipkenyo, Uasin Gishu County, is living in anguish after their son, Andrew Kiprono Limo, went missing months after travelling to Russia, where he reportedly went in search of work.

According to his mother, Salome Mibei, the family last heard from him six months ago. Since then, they have had no communication or information about his whereabouts or condition, leaving them in deep distress and uncertainty.

“I just want to see my son, or at least know whether he is alive or not. I cannot sleep because of the pain,” she said emotionally, appealing to the government to intervene and help trace him.

His grandmother, Lucia Cherusi, echoed the plea, urging authorities to help the family uncover the truth and bring closure.

She emphasized that the family would rather have clarity about his fate than continue living in uncertainty.

Kiprono’s sister revealed that she had been in contact with a soldier who knew him, but even that individual reportedly had limited information.

The soldier, she said, mentioned that Kiprono may have been stationed at the frontline in an area with no network coverage.

The family believes he may have been drawn into military activity in Russia, though they lack confirmed details. This has raised fears that he could be in danger or possibly involved in active conflict.

A neighbour, Wilson Kirwa, also called on President William Ruto and the government to step in and assist families whose loved ones have reportedly travelled to Russia and gone missing.

The case reflects a growing concern among Kenyan families about citizens travelling abroad under unclear circumstances, particularly to regions experiencing conflict.

Meanwhile, the Kiprono family continues to hold prayers and hope for his safe return, clinging to faith while awaiting any information that could bring them closure.
