Oburu Oginga Claims Ruto Showed Him Tuju’s Auctioned Land Documents as Karen Property Saga Deepens

Oburu Oginga has revealed fresh details surrounding the ongoing land dispute involving former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, claiming that President William Ruto personally shared documents showing the contested property had already been auctioned.

Speaking amid growing speculation over Tuju’s predicament, Oburu dismissed accusations that he failed to use his influence to assist him.

He explained that he had reached out to the president directly in an effort to intervene but was presented with evidence indicating that the matter had already progressed beyond political influence.

According to Oburu, the president sent him a copy of a title deed showing that Tuju’s Karen property, which hosts the Dari Business Park, had been sold through a public auction in February 2025.

The land had reportedly been pursued by the East African Development Bank (EADB) over an unpaid loan dating back to 2015.

“I called the president to understand what was happening, and after some time, he sent me a document showing the new owner of the land after it was auctioned publicly,” Oburu said, adding that the issue was more complex than it appeared publicly.

The Siaya senator further disclosed that Tuju had also sought Ruto’s intervention but was advised to resolve the matter by compensating the new owner if he wished to reclaim the property.

However, Oburu suggested that Tuju has resisted this option, instead pushing for the title deed to be reverted to his name.

This disagreement, he noted, lies at the heart of the ongoing standoff, which has attracted political attention and public debate.

The situation has been further complicated by claims from businessman Jackson Chebet, who asserts that his company, Ultra Eureka Limited, legally acquired the property through a public auction for approximately KSh 450 million.

In legal filings, Chebet maintains that due process was followed and that his firm is the rightful owner of the land.

Meanwhile, Tuju remains hospitalised at The Karen Hospital, reportedly under police watch, as investigations continue into allegations that he staged his own abduction—claims that have added another layer of controversy to the already complex case.

President Ruto, while addressing the matter publicly, has urged that Tuju receive honest advice, cautioning against individuals who may be exploiting his situation for political gain.

He also criticised attempts to politicise the issue, insisting that the dispute should be resolved within the confines of the law.
